In Norse mythology, Yggdrasil (from Old Norse Yggdrasill meaning "Ygg's (Odin's) horse") is the world tree. Yggdrasil is attested in the Poetic Edda, compiled in the 13th century from earlier traditional sources, the Prose Edda, written in the 13th century by Snorri Sturluson. In both sources, Yggdrasil is an immense ash tree that is central and considered very holy.
.........aparently anyway, god bless Wikipedia.......Ooooh and also Yggdrasil is the name of an album by a band called 'Bump of Chiken',although they are unfortunately not available on Napster
The tones and colour are wonderful of course, but I really love the lone figure silhouetted in the background. The accompanying description is particularly interesting. Are you a fan of mythology?
Thank's Elizabeth.I very nearly cloned out that little man along with a rubbish bin that was on the right hand side but I think he add's a nice sense of perspective and makes the tree look more imposing.
I do like mythology when I start reading into it or if a film or book has an element of that type of thing to it,but for some reason I very rarely have much motivation to read up on it...if that makes any sense? It's one of those strange thing's where I enjoy it when I start but very rarely do start.
Bravo
Cheers!
