I've not logged in around these parts for around 7 years now ( give or take ) and sweet betsy does it all look different.....hopefully for the better but I guess I'll find out.
I'm hoping all the super awesome photographers, manipulators, illustrators, designers, writers, art appreciators and critiquers....critique..ers...critique makers...erm..critique givers I have no idea what you call one who critiques but you know what I mean hopefully.
Anyway, I hope some of the old faces are still around and if not then I guess I'm talking myself, which is fine I guess but it would be better if all the super awesome people are still here.
DA was awesome back in the day and it was the people as much as the art that made that true......so fingers crossed.

I'm going to leave the account open purely as there are lot of uber cool people I've met over the years that have drifted away or left the site completely and I live in hopes that they'll return.........and also three DD's.........I may never get another again.

Whats going on?
Personally I've always defended DA and have tended to think a site like this can be no better than the community it caters to and lets face it this community has been sliding downhill overtime.
Out of the 500 or so people I watch there were only 2 critiques posted in the last 6 months....2!!! That is shockingly bad for a community that claims to be united by a love of art and ( I would hope ) the mutual growth and progression of it's members.....maybe I'm just naive though as certainly seems to be the case when responding to the numerous moaning journals that have been posted.
I realize that by posting this journal I have by default joined the moaners but I do have to ask the question 'why log in if you hate it so much?'.....my naiveity showing itself again no doubt but the question seems to obvious to not be asked.
Has something happened of which I'm not aware? Has DA finally fallen beneath the weight of porn and snapshots?
It seems like a good half of the people I either respected as artists or liked as people have either deactivated their accounts or drifted away and if I'm totally honest ( and I know I'm not the best artist in the world ) I wasn't overly impressed whilst browsing through the days most popular pieces the other day.
Anyway, I'm going to stop myself short of a full on rant and wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
