Simply Untrue


The biggest DA myth to my mind is that only good artist's can have a valid opinion on art.......it's even more ludicrous to presume only a popular artists opinion has merit.

I'm far too lazy to write a meaty essay on this but I've seen talented artists completely disregard the opinions of the not-so talented or popular as though they know it all and no one with a mere 5 thousand page views could possibly have a valid opinion on their work.

I posted a poll regarding arrogant artists not too long ago and the results seemed to suggest that not everybody shares my intense loathing of them......but I just want it on record,I think they are fucking idiots.

I agree that to base the worth of an opinion on popularity or pageviews is ridiculous in the extreme. Frankly, many of the artists with massive numbers would do well to get their head out of their fundamentals, actually work on being creative rather than simply churning out the same banal material using the same tired post-processing tricks, and have a look at the quality work being produced by a plethora of creatives here.

I agree with you. Another thing is that the popular artists a lot of the time aren't even good artists either, but for some reason (faves from ignorent people) got their ego's strocked long enough to think they are really good, and that they know everything.

But I can't stand any arrogant artists, regardless of whether they're 'good' or not. Arrogance is never justified.

I am with you on that. I hate it even more when these sub nominals start their own clics and pretend that their little corner of the world is all inclusive.

I don't remember Matt if I chimed in on that past journal or not so I'll do it now......they "are" fucking idiots!

Glad to know your take on this. I don't even think I have 5000 pageviews but oh well. At least you bother to listen to everyone, even conflicting opinions, and I think your work is better because of it.

I agree totally with you on that mate. I don't class myself as a pro not by a long shot. But I have noticed when I have commented on the so called semi and pro photographers on here that i never ever get a comment back. yet theres people who they do speak to that are at the same level as him/her and theres complete conversations going on a few of which have even said the same things as me. Anyhow..... needless to say I dont bother anymore I just let them carry on with their little clicks, i got my friends who do speak and my theory is no matter if were amateurs, semi or pro we all share the same interest and passions for our hobby, hence why we are on here.....*rant over*

I have problems with anyone who is arrogant. I just don't want to fool with them or be around them. Fortunately there are some artists on dA who are popular who aren't arrogant.
